Learn to knit mittens using this iconic and easy-to-learn pattern!
A photo of Bernie Sanders ’gloves spread through the internet like wildfire. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to knit mittens, this is the perfect time to do it.
During this three-hour workshop, you will learn the Fair-isle / stranded colorwork technique and the method of knitting with 5 needles. You will learn to read a pattern, create the thumb, and cast off and complete the mittens. The mittens will be made to your measurements. If the mittens are for someone else, you will need to bring the measurements of that person’s hand to the workshop.
You may bring your own yarn and knitting needles, or you can purchase a set.
The set includes:
4 balls of 5 dkg Bravo acrylic yarn and
A set of 5 size 3.5 DPN (double-pointed) needles
If you would like to use colors other than those in the photo, you can do so. Please , e-mail me at stitchbudapest@gmail.com
The cost of the kit is: 3 500 Ft
The maximum number of participants is 4, and we will be following the government regulations. All attendees will be required to wear a mask throughout the workshop.
Important: To participate, you need to have basic knitting knowledge (cast-on, knit and purl). During the 3-hour workshop, you probably won’t be able to complete the mittens, but we’ll knit a sample where I’ll show you all the important steps and practice them. If you wish, there will be a practice class on the following Friday to work on the remainder of the mittens.
This is the pattern I drew from Bernie’s mittens, and this is a mitten in progress:
